“To believe is to believe while waiting”: Cebitepal proposes a reflection on life before and after death

The Theological Center of Celam, Cebitepal, is open for registrations for the course Life before and after death, which will begin on September 10. 

Guided by the theologian Fray Michael P. Moore, the proposal will address one of the great questions of human and religious experience: what can we expect after death and how that hope illuminates our present life.

In light of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, participants will reflect on fundamental issues of Christian eschatology, including the meaning of history, the end of the world, resurrection, the immortality of the soul, hell, and the relationship between the Christian faith and the doctrine of reincarnation.

When presenting the course, Fray Michael P. Moore emphasizes that eschatology is not limited to thinking about the afterlife, but also helps to understand life and history: “Eschatology invites us to relate life after death to this life and to history, both animated by the virtue of hope. For Christians, to believe is to believe while hoping.”.

The journey will also delve into the Christian conviction that death and the realities that threaten life do not have the final word. 

In this sense, it will seek to answer an essential question: “What and whom do Christians hope for?”.

Cebitepal thus offers a space for shared study and reflection to rediscover hope as a cross-cutting dimension of faith, capable of transforming life and history.
