Today, the global Church demands more participative communities, open to dialogue and close to the needs of the people.

To meet this demand, updating in the theological and pastoral field is essential. In direct response to this call, the Cebitepal Theological Center promotes the course “Formation in faith and Christian initiation in light of a synodal pedagogy”, a space for critical thinking focused on catechists, Catholic teachers, and pastoral agents.

Leaving behind educational models strictly based on memorization, the program adopts the dynamic of See–Judge–Act. Thanks to this methodology, participants acquire tools to promote discernment in community, foster personal growth, and energize a faith committed to the issues of today's world.

A syllabus connected to reality and the digital age

The academic itinerary proposes a thorough journey through the most recent pedagogical and pastoral currents, addressing key topics such as:

  • Christian education: A deep review in light of the Second Vatican Council.
  • Synodal pedagogy: Fundamental elements for its practical application.
  • Diversity and peripheries: Tradition, pluralism, and a catechesis that springs from the margins.
  • Digital age: The centrality of adult catechesis and innovative strategies to share faith in virtual environments.

Internationally recognized academic leadership

The program will be taught by Dr. Hosffman Ospino, full professor of Theology and Religious Education at the School of Theology and Ministry of Boston College (United States).

Born in Colombia, Dr. Ospino is a reference in research on the transformative presence of Hispanics in American Catholic life and the relationship between faith and culture. His career is distinguished by:

  • Author and editor of 21 books and more than 250 articles.
  • Former president of the Academy of Hispanic Catholic Theologians of the United States (ACHTUS).
  • Current member of the board of the Catholic Theological Society of America (CTSA).
  • A solid combination of academic rigor and active pastoral participation in the Archdiocese of Boston.
